The Manliest American Who Ever Lived and the Gun That Didn’t Stop Him
Teddy Roosevelt, America’s 26th President, ascended to the job when his boss, William McKinley, succumbed to an assassin’s bullet in September of 1901 (Read the story of his assassination here – The Assassination of William McKinley: Of Hopeless Causes and One Seriously Pathetic Pistol).

"I hear the South callin' me...I got that Mason-Dixon fever, Lord it's in my soul...." Toy Caldwell

The following is a transcription of a speech given at the inaugural Education Conference of the Alabama Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans:
‘The best men of the South have long desired to do away with the institution and were quite willing to see it abolished.’ – Robert E. Lee
‘Most informed men realized that slavery was not an institution which would last forever; that soon it would have to be modified, and eventually, relinquished. They knew that the South could not maintain it very long after it ceased to serve a useful economic and social service, and that its utility was nearing an end. They wished, however, to choose the hour and method by which they should decree its gradual extinction. Knowing the complexity of the problem, they did not desire to be whirled into a catastrophic social revolution.’ – Pulitzer-winning historian J. Allan Nevins
The story of Patrick R. Cleburne is well-known among Southerners, but Cleburne was not the first American – nor even the first Confederate – to propose arming and freeing slaves as a means of defense against foreign invasion. In fact, it was no less a figure than George Washington during the War of American Independence. As James Madison suggested, ‘To liberate and make soldiers at once of the blacks’ was ‘more consonant to the principles of liberty which ought never to be lost sight of in a contest for liberty.’

The Truth Hurts: Nobel Prize Winning DNA Pioneer Stripped of Titles After Sharing His Views on IQ and Race
Distinguished scientist and Nobel Prize winner James Watson was stripped of several honorary titles after suggesting our genetic makeup cause differences in IQ tests.
Watson’s Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory stripped him of his titles following his comments.
Evidently, acknowledging racial differences in IQ scores is now forbidden — even from one of the greatest scientists of our time.
Watson’s laboratory condemns the misuse of science to justify prejudice.

STRANGE: Americans Want The Border Wall But Blame President Trump For The Shutdown
Via Billy
Americans are increasingly bullish on a border wall but are souring on the government shutdown, according to two new polls out Sunday from CNN and The Washington Post.
The Washington Post reports that Americans are almost evenly split on whether they support a solid wall along the United States' southern border, up from the beginning of the immigration battle between Democrats and Republicans in Congress. That level of support is up ten points from a similar poll taken in January of 2017.

Buffett son spends millions to boost border security in rural Arizona, report says

Howard Buffett, Warren’s oldest son, has become a
crusader at the border, using his organizations and wealth to boost
security efforts of local authorities and volunteer groups, according to
a recent report.
While his interest in border security
may seem odd, a closer look at the 64-year-old billionaire and
philanthropist reveals he’s no stranger to the issue. Buffett owns a
ranch in Cochise County, Arizona, that sits just 300 yards from the
U.S.-Mexico border.

Democrats really suck at optics
Via Gleason Long
You’d think since all the Democrats have are phony narratives and breathless talking points they would be really good at optics.
But they’re not.
In fact, they really suck at optics.
And a government shutdown where each side has to successfully make the case that they are the ones who are on the side of the angels is one of those times when optics can really make a difference.
Sadly for the Democrats, their side is bungling it big time.
That was abundantly obvious Tuesday night when the Plywood Cutouts Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer stood woodenly side-by-side behind that too-small podium.
It wasn’t a good look.

H.R. 1: Democrats Act to Strip State Powers Over Elections
Via Billy

If you thought the midterm
elections had problems, wait until you learn about Nancy Pelosi’s plan
to terminate state control over American elections.
Democrats
in Congress have announced their top legislative priority, and it isn’t
health care, immigration, or taxes. Instead, they want to centralize
power over elections in Washington, D.C. H.R. 1 is number one on the legislative agenda because it is the number one priority
of House Democrats, leftist groups, deep-pocketed dark money, and those
who use election process rules to help win elections -- or at least to
cause chaos.
