I have been warning you of the dangers of DUI checkpoints and the TSA checkpoints at the airports. They condition Americans to believe checkpoints are part of life. They have no rights and must comply. They condition Americans to get in line and answer questions asked by a government official without thinking twice about their rights. They are evolving.
In Kansas City, Missouri, the mayor wants gun checkpoints. This would be the illegal search of your car for guns. Mayor Sly James is pushing the idea of the next-generation checkpoint.
Mayor Sly James says it's time to get serious about guns. The issue was raised as chief Darryl Forte briefed council on hot spot policing. James tells KMBZ that when it comes to firearms in the hands of criminals, the city has to 'cowboy up.' "We're either going to stop the constant harping about gun violence, or we have to be willing to get the guns off the street from those who perpetrate violence," said James. The mayor notes DUI checkpoints don't require probable cause, so maybe the same method could work in looking for illegal firearms. James will continue talking with Forte and wants to consider all legal options, and says nothing the city does will impact owners who have obtained and use their guns lawfully.
See what I mean about probable cause being thrown out as police line you up along the road with their unconstitutional DUI checkpoints that violate the Fourth?
