How Israel secures it's schools

After hearing of the recent school tragedy in the US, one Israeli 11 year old asked his mother, "Where was the guard?" When he heard that there are no armed guards at US schools he asked, "So who protects the kids?"

In the wake of the horrific tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School DoubleTapper discusses how Israel secures it's schools and prevents mass shootings and terrorist attacks.

  1. While I'm all for armed security in our schools (and strenghtening the perimeter and doors), I seriously doubt American gun owners want Israeli gun laws implemented here.

It's very hard to get a CCW in Israel. Reloading is forbidden, etc. I know guys who collect matches to get "powder" for their ammo.

I've trained with their special forces and participated in numerous practical shooting competitions in Israel (and around the world). The Israelis don't impress me much with their gun skills. One pilot once told me that, "We're not so good. The Arabs are just so much worse."

What works for them is intelligence and non-pc approach.

BTW, the Israeli press have been full of headlines along the lines of "Jewish Senators First to Push the Gun Ban in America." "Reform, Conservative, Orthodox leaders join gun control call." In addition, the Israeli media is full of stories about the "dark side of sick American" gun culture (i.e. the proliferation of CCW, etc.). Most Israelis (and American Jews) want guns banned here.

    My two shekels...

    1. And it's mind boggling that they voted overwhelmingly for Hussein.
