NC: First in the Nation: Beaufort County, NC Adopts Federal Gun Laws Nullification Resolution

Via NC Renegade

We need these fine gentlemen in control of our Republic.

The Beaufort County (N. C.) Board of Commissioners, meeting in special session January 18, 2013, adopted unanimously a resolution calling upon the N. C. General Assembly to take necessary measures to nullify any Federal action within the State that infringes on the Second Amendment's guarantee of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. The resolution further directed the County Manager to insure that no county employees or resources were used in Federal actions that infringe on Second Amendment rights and called upon the Legislature to adopt necessary measures to call for, with the concurrence of two-thirds of the other states, the convening of a constitutional convention for the "specific purpose of amending the Unites States Constitution to strengthen the Second and Tenth Amendments…"

The motion was made by Commissioner Hood Richardson and seconded Commissioner Stan Deatherage and it was adopted with Vice Chairman Al Klemm and Commissioner Gary Brinn voting for adoption. Each commissioner made a brief statement of why they supported the resolution as can be heard in the video below. Three commissioners, all Democrats, were absent: Jerry Langley, Ed Booth, and Robert Belcher.

The action took place before an overflow crowd of citizens most of whom appeared to be in support of the action.

You can watch the entire meeting in the 16 minute video below:

A very proud moment for me indeed. My dad, James E Austin, deceased WWII veteran was born in Beaufort, North Carolina. He would be proud of his brothers today in Beaufort and all of North Carolina. God Bless the Republic and the great State of North Carolina.

I would think the governor could do it, but though a Republican, he isn't exactly a Patriot by any means.

  4. HEADS UP PLEASE! READ THIS!

    REALLY GOOD!
BUT I have a MAJOR problem with 1 part of the resolution. That part being Mr. Deathrage called for the state to call a Constitutional Convention (aka ConCon) concerning the 2nd Amendment. That is a MAJOR NO NO! I can explain why if I need too, but you'll have to ask because it is somewhat lengthy and complex. However let me add this as a shortcut in backing up what I say.

Do any of ya'll know Robin Hayes? He was a state legislature, House Speaker and Majority Leader. He was also a US House Rep, and he ran for Governor for the State of NC.

Let me further state, Robin Hayes and I helped STOP North Carolina from voting for a ConCon. Robin Hayes SIT on this bill tabling it for an entire secession and term. almost 2 years! Robin Hayes knows this is an EXTREMELY bad thing to do! I know this also. I know enuff to know and say, what Mr Deathrage is calling for is impractical and will NOT in any way result in what his good intentions called for! A ConCon does not in any way work like he thinks or like YOU may think!

I hope Mr Deathrage will reconsider asking the state to call for a ConCon. Otherwise the actions from the commissioners was excellent.

  5. True, You can't call a ConCon just to address any one issue. That was *part* of the problem, however it gets worse, not better.

In short, the state can call for a ConCon as the referendum is open ended so far as I know and there are or were 35 states that have signed for a ConCon. That's bad!

Worse news is: NOBODY or NOTHING has any control whatsoever over the delegates once a ConCon starts. They can pass, change, twist, tweak or address every last single thing in the US Constitution. They can even rewrite the entire Constitution itself and NOBODY can lift a finger to stop them.

The ONLY good news from all this bad news is the states then have to vote 3/4 in favor of accepting the New Constitution. Which then brings up the debate; what happens to the states that refuses to accept the New Constitution, if the 3/4 majority passes it? Are they free to leave? Or, will they be forced to stay and accept the New Constitution? And we already have a good idea of where this will lead....

It can get really hairy, a ConCon.. and this is the easy quick over-view... Much more to it...

  6. Not much of anything in government scares me. A ConCon scares me....

People today aren't smart enuff or honest enuff to hold a real and honest ConCon.

There is already a replacement Constitution drawn up, called, "The New States Constitution". It's probably been changed some since I knew of it though.

One of the main things the Marxists have pushed for, for years, is a ConCon and a New Constitution. You wouldn't believe some of the things they've tried and the arguments they've made in supporting a ConCon...

After what I went through in the 90s with Robin Hayes, I now wonder who put Deathrage up to adding that in his speech? And whoever it was, I am suspect of them! This ConCon mess has been that messy, deceitful and twisted... This was one of the 1st things in my life that made me start believing in a 5th column in government. I mean from the standpoint of knowing the enemy from within the party... Now you know why I suspect anyone, anybody when I read about a ConCon. Robin Hayes will tell you the same things...

anything BUT a Constitutional Convention... that is a whirlwind wrapped up in a hurricane surrounded by a typhoon... the means to correct the present difficulties are already in our hands... what ain't broke don't need fixed... what IS needed however, is men of character and solid moral standing to stand and start shaking the sheets...

this same suggestion was bantered about a year or 2 ago as far north as Maine - where I live - and the concensus was the same then: no ConCon

excellent move by the gentlemen of Beaufort Cty otherwise

  9. Is it an oddity or the reality of where we all live; Before Lincoln's War there were demonstrations by the abolitionists, Puritan sects and Quakers in the North, where they marched in the streets and burned copies of the US Constitution declaring they wanted to secede from the union because of the evil and filthy Southerners. Isn't it odd, all the above became Republicans for decades and until, say the last 40 years?

Also around this time period we had 2 large parties, the Federalist and Whig parties, almost exclusive to the North, who constantly challenged the authority and interpretation of the US Constitution. A man by the name of Abraham Lincoln was among these people. Those parties collapsed falling out of disfavor for the very reasons of trying to push society into a democratic system, subverting and challenging the authority of the US Constitution.

ALL the members of these parties eventually ended up forming the new Republican Party during the 50s. Lincoln was the first president from this new party, yet he carried the mindset and ways of the Federalist and Whig parties which had become extinct as parties.

Along with the 10s of thousands of Marxists fleeing Europe to the united States from their failed 48 revolution, they too joined the Republican Party.

There is where your original liberal/Marxist party began life! They are still alive and well in the Republican Party today, but the Democrat Party has moved left of them.

This is the reason, I think, I experienced that 5th column element concerning a ConCon back in the 90s. It was only because of the RINO Republicans like Robin Hayes that it was stopped in NC. Believe me, those type people as I've referred to above still constitute the largest numbers in the Republican Party and have total control of the top.

(Note: The RINO Republicans are the real conservative Republicans. NOT the moderate mainstream Republicans you normally think of as RINOs. Actually the roles are reversed.)

      Would you care to clarify?

  10. RINO Republicans are the left over "Jeffersonian", "Old South", "Libertarian" "Constitutionalist" conservatives that could be considered "Paleoconservatives".

If you remember, the Republican Party actually started claiming conservatism, specifically in the South, under Richard Nixon and his "Southern Strategy." This started the process of moving conservative Southerners to the Republican Party, especially after G Wallace was shot. Where else were they to go as the Democrat Party slid into communism?

All the while, all the way back to Lincoln himself, the Republican Party had been noted as being the "Progressive Party", actually running this in their campaigns and being proud of the fact. And what does "progressive" translate into? The one major difference being, the Republican Party had always been more fiscally responsible than the Democrats with a few exceptions.

Today we see this Paleoconservatism in the Republican Party from such places as the TEA Party and independents such as Ron Paul. Note, it is the Paleoconservatives or you can call them ultra-conservatives, that are the ones using the tag "RINO" in distinguishing the moderates and liberal Republicans of the Republican Party, yet the moderates and liberals were part of the founding ideology/people of the Republican Party. Not the TEA Party, or any ultra-conservatives that compose part of the Republican Party today. I ask; whom is trying to steal the party from whom?

It's beneath my dignity in this day and age.

While I'm no Ole Hickory, his spirit still lives in me. What little there is left of me anyways.. But, maybe we can work together and rout out that den of vipers again, one more time though?

I will say the ancestry has given me much incentive and drive to learn my history. I've been privileged by a great family and been given opportunities few people receive.
