Why I gave up my guns

Via Gun Rights For Us

An AR-15 with a high-capacity magazine, seen in 2004.

Because with 100's of hours on the range I couldn't chamber a round which already should have been anyway.  Maybe you are better off not being near them.

Late one night in the spring of 2008, I was jolted awake by the sound of yet another a burglar trying to break into my Atlanta home. We’d already had a series of scary close calls, but this time I was ready: I had staged my shotgun and a box of shells in a broom closet right by the back door, next to the umbrellas.

While my girlfriend called the police, I ran into the kitchen and looked out the window just in time to see a human form rush to hide in the shadows behind my car. I grabbed the gun and fumbled for the ammunition in the half-light, spilling most on the ground, but finally found one cartridge I was able to slide into the chamber.

I worked the action furiously, once, twice, and again, realizing dimly as I did that in doing so I was actually ejecting the shell, unspent, and basically unloading the weapon. But the unmistakable sound of the pump carried to the backyard, and, in a flash, the prowler was gone — a blur of raggedy jeans and tattered flannel sliding across the hood of my car and vaulting over the picket fence into the night.

I couldn’t make out his face or tell if he was armed. The next moment I was in the bathroom, vomiting hot puke all over the floor and toilet, water from the bowl splashing my face and eyes. Later, my girlfriend told me I had made her feel safe, protected. I just felt ill.

  1. This is a fake story. If not this guy is a coward. I have used a firearm many times in self defense as a deterrent - have never had to pull the trigger 2 times I could have legally. As for vomiting or getting sick I won't comment it has never happened to me...adrenaline does flow and time goes by quick to say the least.

    1. As mentioned at the source.

This "man" gave up his guns, and provides yet another example of the metrosexual male this country produces today

I have a strong stomach, but this assclown's tale (if it's to be believed) made me want to retch. To be honest, I couldn't finish reading it.

  2. Sorry legally as in no criminal charges - just a possible civil suit. I did get picked up one time after using a gun for self defense had to write a 7 page report about what happened to me and a 3 page report on what happened to a female officer. The guy I had to draw on was the aggresor and a psychotic person when he could not sucker punch me or jump me from the back he ran to the cops and said I pulled a gun on him for no reason. He had made a motion like he had a pistol in his pocket and I drew first. He ended up stripping and running from the cops-no weapon was found on him, it was passed on to one of the 2 individuals with him. He did six months for the event got out and did an armed robbery and was busted for being a felon in possession of a handgun and got 2-10 year prison sentences. I ended up with a few LEO friends and got my Glock 21 back with accessories.

    1. Good deal. I looked at the 36, but it being only slightly smaller than the 30, I didn't want to give up the extra rounds.

  4. Its the longslide in .40 can't remember the number. I did just pick up a Taurus slimlime .45 millennium type used for 237.00 with tax couldn't say no at that price. Natchez shorter supply has .45 ammo pmc bronze for 21 a box limit 10 and .38 fmj' for about 17 or 18 a box. Just a heads up.

  6. "First, I applaud Blanchfield for realizing he is incapable of using a firearm for self-defense."
