Young America

This wood burning is reported to be a black Mammy holding a white child wrapped in an American flag from the 19th century and supposedly done in disagreement with the 15th amendment although I don't see the connection. A friend would like to sell this if any interest.

  1. I don't see anything unusual or controversial about it. It's pretty much a picture of me in the arms of Mrs. Bessie when I was a baby in the 50's. She and her husband worked our farm
while my parents both worked a "public job" to try and pay for the place.

I guess it's only unusual up north where black folks and white folks don't interact. And they call us racist.

      6th picture down.
In 1907, my Mother was born and the following shows Aunt Emily holding her. Aunt Emily was also Mammy to my Grandmother, Sally Moore Leach Pippen, and my Aunt Mary Powell Pippen.
