Gun Confiscation: “Ma’am, It Sounds Like You’re Anti-American.”

Connecticut State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance, who spent far too many sad hours in front of the cameras talking to the media about the Sandy Hook massacre, has been fielding calls lately about the state’s gun ban and registration provisions. The deadline to register so-called “assault weapons” and standard capacity magazines with the state passed on December 31.

Only 50,000 firearms and 38,000 magazines were registered. Perhaps another 350,000 firearms belong to those who refused to register their arms. Nearly 2 million magazines are thought to remain unregistered.

These unregistered firearms and magazines are thought to belong to 80,000-100,000 gun owners who view the law as a blatantly unconstitutional infringement upon the very spirit of Second Amendment, and a prelude to confiscation.

As a result of rising fear and anger in the state, Vance has been fielding many calls about the law, and in specific, fears that police SWAT units might start kicking in doors to arrest those that did not comply.

Those most obviously in danger of being arrested at this time are 106 rifle owners and and 108 magazine owners who tried to register their arms, too late. The government knows exact who they are through their botched registrations, and sent them letters giving them options on how to surrender their arms and magazines.

A woman claiming to be the wife of one of these 106 rifle owners called Lt. Vance, and got into a very heated discussion with him.

  1. After listening and reading the comments about the conversation, a lot of folks focused on the "I am the master" part at the end when the caller had finally provoked him enough by saying that the Lt. was supposed to be a public servant that we all pay taxes for and the public is his master.

One thing that everyone seemed to miss is that the Lt. said "I pay taxes too." inferring that he was part of the tax paying public. Oh really? And where exactly does the good Lt. think the money to pay his taxes comes from? Why his salary of course....which comes from the rest of us who pay taxes. So OUR money (in this case the state of Connecticut's) pays his taxes....and buys his groceries, makes his house payment, car payment, sends his kids to schools and colleges, his health care, his pension and a myriad of other things.

I guess the point of this is that any public servant whose salary is paid by your taxes is in reality a part of the parasite class in this country. We do get a little in exchange but anyone familiar with the work ethic of the majority of public sector employees realizes that it is VERY little. Don't let them tell you otherwise. Been to the DMV lately?

  2. if you listen to the audio included in this article make sure you listen all the way to the end. The officers last words are worrisome. Not unexpected but worrisome.

    2. Yep. That is how I was taught with my shotgun...don't load it full, save some room in case you need slugs instead.

    4. Brock, there's nothing unseemly about the lady's comment. She simply knows that sometimes only a slug will do.

I'll remember that the next time the alarm goes off at 3am in the firehouse for a structure fire or multiple vehicle pileup with extrication. Sleep tight asshole.

    1. Dude...nobody hates on firefighters. Hell...you guys are the ONLY government employees who show up and things generally get much BETTER for all involved.

The same cannot be said for cops.

    2. It's not to say that public employees are not needed. Some are, a lot aren't but that isn't the point. The point is that ALL of the money that actually pays the bills in this country comes from private business and people that are employed by private business. If you work for the government you do pay taxes but you are merely taking the tax dollars out of one pocket and putting them into the other. There is no growth in the economy or tax revenues from the taxes you pay because all that you pay in plus part of what the rest of us pay comes back to you in your next check.

The comment was not ALL inclusive. I recommend that you take a remedial reading comprehension class........asshole.

  5. Kicking doors in should result in neighbors setting up ambushes. Quickly collecting spent cartridges, arms, radios, cameras, and ditching or burning vehicles, etc Sanitizing the scenes. No more backing up. If they (the Gestapo) wants a war with the people, so be it. In this case, they would have fired the first shot. The people will fire the final shot, with the balance completed by quick trials and a rope.

    2. I prefaced that with their blatant acts of aggression. It would be an indication that they intend on committing murderer on the very people they are designed and created to protect. And acts such as this must never be allowed to stand.

  6. Maybe people from out of state should start calling him too. You know, just to let him know.....

    2. Sometimes enough phone calls do work. I grew up in a small town with a police chief who had no police officers. He was the whole police force and he was on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. One night a friend of mine failed to completely stop at a stop sign. There was no one coming and he was rolling about 1/2 mph through the sign but our version of Barney Fife was on the job and say his great offense. "Barney" gave my friend a ticket for failure to stop which in NC is a serious problem for your continued driving privilege and your insurance.

My friend told him, "Barney" you'll regret giving me that ticket to which "Barney" bowed all up with all his police authority and dismissed my friend. Well for the next 3 days and night, 24 hours a day on the top of the hour my friend who was also "Barney's" friend called Barney on the phone.
His job required him to answer. My friend didn't threaten him or even talk ugly to him, he just chatted. How you doing "Barney"? Caught any fish lately, how's your mama. You get the idea. In to the wee hours of the 3rd day Barney showed up at my friends house, ticket in hand, tore the ticket up and gave it to my friend. Then "Barney" went home to get some rest.

      True story.
