  1. No matter what game you are stalking, a shot just above and slightly behind the shoulder usually does the job. Looks like it works for MRAPs too.

  2. I have already posted about this over at Busted Knuckles blog, so I will repeat what I said there.

I served in Iraq in 06-07 as a combat engineer doing Route Clearance missions. These MRAP's are NOT indestructible. We lost a bunch of these to the more cruedly assembled ied's. We lost one where the insurgents buried a 5-gallon plastic bucket filled with the classic ammonium nitrate-fuel oil mix. This ied was detonated underneath the main structure which completely blew the entire drive train from the vehicle and twisted the main structure like an aluminum can. Now granted, everyone in the vehicle walked away, they were then exposed to any other kind of ground attack.

One other thing that I mentioned over at bk's blog is that these MRAP's are ment to work with other MRAP's or heavy armored vehicles as a team. When you look at these, they are nothing more than over glorified big rigs that serve just one single purpose.

Oh, one more thing, the best milage that we got from these MRAP's was just a little over FIVE GALLONS PER MILE, yes 5mpg. Hope your county has a good supply of cheap diesel.

    1. Thanks and very informative. 5 gallons a mile? Guess these "free" contraptions have a surprise for the departments that graciously accepted them.:)
