A mother of 4 says that while she was in police custody for a misdemeanor, she was stripped naked by deputies, pepper sprayed, and left naked in a cell for nearly seven hours.

The incident took place on March 30th, when 31-year-old Tabitha
Gentry, of New Albany, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting
arrest, after an emotional fight with her estranged husband. She was
taken to the Floyd County Jail and held on 2 misdemeanor charges.Gentry appeared to be intoxicated and did not answer questions to the satisfaction of the deputies. In an effort to produce “submission through humiliation” — as attorney Laura Landenwich described — the jailers then strip-searched her, and paraded her around in front of other deputies, and left her nude in a room with no covering for the rest of the night.

She shouldn't have been intoxicated and she shouldn't have been where-ever she was when the cops got there and she shouldn't have resisted or made mouthy comments or furtive movements.
I blame her. It's her fault.
The cops are just doing their jobs and trying to go home safely at the end of the shift.
The cops feel real bad about what had to be done and they are upside down about it.
I have much sympathy for the brave cops. I bet they will need counseling after this.
I mean they didn't rape her. Goodness, what's the uproar all about........?
ReplyDeleteThe sad part is that the NAPD has already LOST something like 20 lawsuits over this same crap. They have so much contempt for the civil rights of everyone that crosses their path that the city att. has a STAFF to do nothing but defend the NAPD. They lose-- A LOT-- She is VERY lucky she wasn't in Louisville where people often "die in custody" from "natural causes" . It often seems that the LMPD and NAPD are in some sick contest to see who can violate the most peoples rights and get away with it. Or just murder them in cold blood. (Louisville Metro PD (county wide) is now up to 40 unarmed citizens dead in 15 years , NAPD won't tell anyone how many they have killed , but most "watchers" believe it's over 30 in the last decade)---Ray
