After a Brutal Home Invasion, An Anti-Gun Couple Changed Their Minds On Firearm Ownership

James Dittrich and Meredith Duffy are now gun owners after being attacked by criminals.

Like most people, James Dittrich had horrible situational awareness.

He’d walked his dog and was returning up the stairs to his third floor apartment, and the two thugs were on him in the stairwell before he knew what was going on. They robbed him of his wallet, and forced him into his apartment at gunpoint, where his fiance was sleeping.

Dettrich—finally clued into the fact that he put his fiance, Meredith Duffy in great danger—went after the gun, hoping to give Duffy a chance to call 911:

So I reached up and I grabbed [the gun],” Dittrich said. “I couldn’t wrestle it free, but I knew, with both hands on it, I had control of it, and that was the opportunity that she needed to call. And I just, I really just hoped I could keep control of it for her to make that call.”

  1. Nothing like a reality check to set libtards straight.

  2. I can't wait for the massive reality check to come when the welfare checks stop coming. Hopefully most will realize the error of their ways and join the fight for freedom. I won't hold my breath on that, though. Probably just end up being a lot of starving dying thieving desperate folks who give no shits about Rightful Liberty.

  3. As more criminal illegals invade the country these incidents will become more common. The good side of this happening those that survive will become converted liberals.

  4. I didn't see any description of the Perps - is this now against the law in NYC to give an accurate description?

  5. well, they said, "Shoot them, shoot them, shoot them" so am guessing that they are WASPs.

  6. I have a theory that has been developing in the back of my mind for a while. I think there are three types of people. Liberals, Conservatives and the totally unaware.
There is no hope for the unaware. The liberals and conservatives are aware and for the most part agree that there is a problem, identify the problem in roughly the same terms but disagree on the solution. IE, there are poor people in the world. The libs want to give them stuff, conservatives want to give them a job. Ok, now imagine that all three groups are in a circular room, like the capital rotunda or a sports arena or maybe even a race track. At first they are talking as a group. Then the problems come up. Then the arguments start.

Now what you get is the liberals moving over to the left of the room and the conservatives moving over to the right of the room and the unaware standing where they were wondering why "we can't just all get along". The fight continues within the fragmented group and within the sub groups the liberals start to argue among themselves about solutions and the conservatives do the same thing. So some of the liberals move further along the left wall and some of the conservatives move further along the right wall. Ok, this continues to repeat it's self until folks are stretched out all along the walls with the most radical of both groups further along the walls and more distant from the original starting point.

I think that is where we have been in this country for the last few years BUT remember that we are in a circular room. The far left and the far right are moving further and further out on opposite sides of a circular room and they are beginning to meet on the back side.

I don't know how that is going to work out but I think it's happening. For example, hard core conservatives and hard core liberals are worried about privacy. The conservatives are worried perhaps that the invasion of privacy will result in confiscation of their ammo stash. The hard core liberals are concerned that the loss of privacy will result in confiscation of their pot stash. Then when they meet at the back of the circle suddenly some of the liberals decide they actually like guns and wish they had a stash of ammo and some of the conservatives decide smoking a joint now and then isn't all that bad.

Does anyone see where I'm going with this? As I said, it's just my theory and I don't know how it will prove out. Am I totally out in the weeds (pun intended) or does anyone agree?

For the record, I'm among the conservative gun owners, not the pot heads in my example.

    2. LOL, sounds like a plan! Another recent example of my theory is this mess going on at the border. All of us Constitution loving, Red Neck, domestic terrorists types are against allowing the illegals to come in and stay in. Nothing new there but now the inner city black folks are singing our tune because they see gov't dollars that they want going to someone else. In this case the reasoning is entirely different but the objection is the same. Kind of like that old saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".
