Backyard burger and wiener roasts targeted by EPA

Via Cousin John

The Environmental Protection Agency has its eyes on pollution from backyard barbecues.

The Environmental Protection Agency has its eyes on pollution from backyard barbecues.

The agency announced that it is funding a University of California project to limit emissions resulting in grease drippings with a special tray to catch them and a "catalytic" filtration system.

The $15,000 project has the "potential for global application," said the school.

The school said that the technology they will study with the EPA grant is intended to reduce air pollution and cut the health hazards to BBQ "pit masters" from propane-fueled cookers.

Propane??? Must be yankees. No real pit master would use propane. And they are probably cooking beef. See, either yankees or Texans. Real Q is pork.
And I have news for them, I want the smoke from the pork drippings flavoring the meat.
    Idiots.

  2. Don't' forget that the EPA has banned 80%+ of wood burning stoves

And they have eyes on banning wood burning all-together. They don't give a shit if it's the sole means people have to heat their homes.

    1. He can get my wood stove right after he finishes hauling off my guns.
I won't need it anymore. CH

    2. Well, that's contingent upon him getting to haul off your guns. :)

  4. Funny how they always pick on the little things that people get enjoyment from
but, alas, one should see the Duke Energy smoke stacks in Asheville , spewing
carcinogens into the atmosphere like you would'nt believe. You could find major
EPA violations everywhere you go and is totally ignored. Idiotidiocy. It's all about
getting one use to being controlled, like TSA telling people to freeze at the airport.

The more they impose on the common man, the bigger our team gets.

  7. I was born, raised and still live in Western PA, but I was conceived in Fayetteville, NC. Must be something that happened to me in the womb down there that made me abhor propane grills. The only way to grill is with charcoal. My company got me a Big ass propane grill for my 35th anniversary. It's been sitting unassembled in the garage for the last 4 years. Maybe I should sell it. Or I guess I could leave the burners out and install a rack for wood and charcoal. The only thing that I use propane for are my home brew burners. Takes too long to boil 10 gallons on a wood stove...................

    1. Wood and charcoal are good, but I'd just as soon cook on the stove than on a propane grill. :)

  8. The point is the freaking feds don't have the power to tell us what we can and can not have And the air quality excuse is bullshit.
    pure Bullshit.

but of course they will go after the manufacturers and they will fold. And another "freedom" lost.

  9. Soon we will be cooking on buffalo chips.
Oh wait, that's not good for the environment.

Soon we will be allotted our monthly rationing of fuel source that doesn't hurt Gaia, to heat our climate neutral diet that is gvt approved.
    It's well past time.

  10. They tried the same thing with lawnmowers ten years ago. It fizzled. But that was when they needed congress to pass new laws.

  11. This is what happens when you let young idealistic people who live in apartments in dc write your policy. They have never even paid their own utilities bills other than cable.
