UPDATE: A Parody: Facebook to Ban Posts Containing the Confederate Flag

Lets post away until we are banned, as if we'd lose much. :)

Facebook, the preeminent global social media service, has bowed to pressure and will begin banning posts containing the Confederate flag.

The new ban, which some commenters have called “Confederate Flagging”, will go into effect soon after the July 4 holiday. Multiple violations will result in account suspensions.

Users who send or receive a post containing the flag or its imagery in any form will receive the following notification: “Content deemed offensive to one or more groups of individuals is blocked from public view. This content may include images or links to images that “depict, display, or promote the design and/or content of the Confederate flag in any manner.”

All monitoring and blocking will be controlled by Facebook.

The online community immediately reacted with a pushback explosion. Many condemned the media giant for bowing to political and social pressure, while others accused Facebook of imposing censorship and taking away free speech and expression:

    1. We can honor Gettysburg and the Fall of Vicksburg instead.

  3. remember to look for the ".com.co"at the end of the address that means their spoofed , that means they are satire sites and not the real deal, meaning this story is a hoax story.

  4. I guess Alabama's, Lynyrd Skynyrd's, and The Doobie Brother's music will be pulled from public purchase outlets as well.

  5. Farcebook...er....Facebook can ban anything its' little black heart desires. It is a private company so it is their call to make. However, I am also free NOT to use Facebook. Given some its' "dirty laundry" regarding it being used as a tool manipulate people, I choose to wait till Hell freezes over before using it.
Companies ought to realize that for every fashionable political cause they want to embrace to gain customers there are those who will reject that company for the same reason. Wal-Mart has pulled the Confederate flag, fine; I will NOT pull into their parking lot. I will NEVER AGAIN buy anything at Wal-Mart. Yes, I am willing to spend a little more some place else if it means not buying from Wally world.
I stopped drinking Sam Adams beer after their commercial, when in quoting from the Declaration of Independence they left out "by their creator" (God). Will it change any thing? No, but at least I am being true to myself, and am doing what I believe is the right thing.

Do you have a video of that?

    2. Brock, my apologies, I do not have a video. But for what it is worth, the commercial in question was played in the past couple of years, intended as their tie in for the 4th of July celebration. I hope this is of some use to you.

  6. I deleted my Amazon membership the day it came out that they banned the Confederate flag. I didn't much off of Ebay anyhow and will not. I never went to Walmart anyhow because of the dang people in there and always just two registers open. Wont be going to Wally World EVER! and Facebook? HA deleted it years ago because of the nosey, zombie people on there. not to mention the fake accounts that are really .gov. I think we should all make as many facebook accounts as we can and post the Confederate flag all over and keep doing it till the fry the damn computer.

  7. Anon at 12:48, if I do not buy sam adams beer, Mr Brock doesn't buy sammy's beer, and Shane Bean and Irish and thousand's more don't buy the beer, then that does make a difference and then to write them and tweet them and farcebook them to let them know why you are not buying their (to be honest) awful beer and their sales figure reflect that. Then that ad where the bearded guy spraying his co workers will be out of a job and now they have a disgruntled worker on their hands who on his last day pisses in their vats.
