San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said in a statement Friday he doesn’t want any city workers to travel to North Carolina unless necessary in wake of its legislation which blocks anti-discrimination for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

“We are standing united as San Franciscans to condemn North Carolina’s new discriminatory law that turns back the clock on protecting the rights of all Americans including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals,” Lee said in the statement.

“Effective immediately, I am directing City Departments under my authority to bar any publicly-funded City employee travel to the State of North Carolina that is not absolutely essential to public health and safety.”

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signed a bill this week to void a Charlotte ordinance that would’ve provided protections against discrimination in public accommodations.

    1. Really. I remember coming back to San Francisco on one of my extension leaves from Vietnam and going into a bar. I ordered a drink and it looked just like a regular bar to me. Then the bartender gave me a drink and said the owner at the other end of the bar
had bought it for me which was nothing unusual especially say in Australia for American GI's. (You could never buy more than one drink there since as soon as they heard your accent they kept supplying you.) At any rate, I noticed the women didn't quite seem to be normal and I slowly grasped what was gong on, so I bought the owner a drink and beat a hasty retreat. :)

    2. Hi Brock,
Funny thing you should say that!! One of the Morticians in "Our Town" has stenciled {PREPARING ROOM} on the door to the room where he embalms dead bodies. 'Reminds me, back in the day, across the "Pond" any "Stateside" Beer we got over there "Viet Nam '68 and '70" had "Formaldehyde" put in it as a "Preservative!!"...REALLY!! I guess they thought we were all doomed so "start early" that way they didn't need as much embalming fluid to pump in us after we got killed over there before they sent us back to Mom!!.......Funny the thoughts that cross your mind after 50 years?????

    4. They said Ba Moui Ba (33) had formaldehyde in it, but don't know if that was true or not. If it was, I won't need anymore in my body when I die! :)I liked Biere Larue which they still have and they added a 3 to 33.

    1. Just propaganda as I can see no reason why one of their city workers would ever be sent here. :)
