Hear! Hear!
DeleteThe local chapter in my hometown identified all of the military graves in the original cemetery. It placed markers on those that were unmarked, and replaced some that were damaged beyond use. Veterans graves from the Civil War and all of the wars up to and including the Vietnam War were included. The cemetery is basically full, so all new burials are few and far between now. Local military were there and made speeches. there was a military honor guard and a reenactment honor guard of both sides of the Civil War. Many people were there. It was a great event. It was a few years back now. The local chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans organized and arranged for payment of all costs. The US military held another dedication ceremony for all who were buried there. I am glad that I had heard about the ceremony and attended it.
ReplyDeleteGreat and good to hear about this. Thanks.
