President-elect Donald Trump vowed to whiplash companies that offshore jobs then try to sell goods back into the U.S. with a 35 percent imports tax, in a series of Sunday-morning Twitter posts.

Just hours after using Twitter to complain about the most recent “Saturday Night Live” skit mocking him for his tweeting habits, Mr. Trump turned his account to more serious matters of American business.

He promised to “substantially reduce” regulations and taxes on American corporations, but those companies that have a U.S. presence but build factories or plants elsewhere and then try to sell back here will be punished for that decision.

“There will be a tax on our soon to be strong border of 35 percent for these companies wanting to sell their product, cars, A.C. units etc., back across the border,” he tweeted.

Should it happen that the communist controlled US Supreme
court rules on this, the US is further doomed. I compare
this bunch to the judges in the Nuremberg trials after WWII.

  2. Tariffs are indirect Constitutional taxing, called imposts or duties:

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; --(Article I, Section 8.1)

The globalist system of so called "free trade" has largely eliminated these taxes to incentivize moving American manufacturing to other countries. Now Trump wants to go back to the Constitutional system and have Congress make bilateral fair trade agreements so that we, by our representative government controls and manages trade to get the best deals for our own national interest. Of course, this is making globalist heads explode.

      23. " Tarif"

When the Saracens and Moors, in the 8th century invaded and devastated the rich and beautiful provinces of Spain, they were commanded by a general whose name was Tarif, who had but one eye (See Anquetil's Universal History) - Our Tariff must be a descendant of this infamous destroyer, and inherits his defect of having but one eye, as it can see but one interest, and in one direction."
(I found the above quote on microfilm at the Tarboro Library, but I either failed to write down the source, or there was none. Also, I failed to write down the date, but remember that it was well before the War, 1823/1833 sticks in my mind. BT)

  3. It wouldn't hurt to have a 35% tax on imported labor...that would pretty well get rid of the work vista abuse that is going on. And deport the illegals...less welfare costs and higher pricing power for employee wages for the legals. indyjonesouthere

  4. A trade tariff is a good idea. We also need to entirely abolish business income tax, separate it from personal income tax.

If Americans want "the rich" to be taxed more, great; but it shouldn't impact business. And small business owners especially are the sort we want to favour. Cutting only corporate income tax isn't enough since that would favour C corporations, which tend to be larger.
