Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., wants the Army to remove an officer who posted pictures of himself on social media promoting pro-communist messages, and is asking the United States Military Academy to consider rescinding his degree.

Rubio sent a letter to acting Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy on Tuesday to complain about 2nd Lt. Spenser Rapone's conduct, and to ask whether West Point's administrators or faculty knew about his pro-communist views. Rapone is now an infantry officer in the Army.

"While I strongly believe academic institutions must respect the exchange of ideas and allow students to voice their opinions, members of the military who harbor anti-American views and express their desire to harm our country and its leaders are unfit to serve and defend our nation — and certainly should not enjoy the privilege of attending or graduating from an institution such as West Point, a taxpayer-funded military academy," Rubio wrote.

  1. You left off...."and replace them with a pro-amnesty messages."

Considering his decline in public stature, how else can this be viewed as anything but self serving and or pandering?

    Y'all have a nice day.

  3. None of these utopian movements are intended to reach utopia.

It's just stupid dreams for secularists who don't believe in an afterlife.

"Give me power, and I'll give you a heaven on Earth. ;) ;)"

Burnham agrees with me that these modern utopian movements are just promising the impossible.

I tend to include classical liberalism as another impossible ideal though. But the classical liberals at least don't tend to want mass murder to bring about their utopias. And currently, classical liberals tend to side with me on most current issues.

      Not at all.

  4. When the utopians promise "communism", they're dreaming of a stateless world. Their ideals are more impossible than the communism we're familiar with. Magically everyone just gets along once workers have taken the means of production for themselves... Right.

And each time this is attempted, we get a dictator backed by an evil Party. In NK, the regime head is even worshiped as a god.

So, realised communism is *very* different from theoretical communism. Communists don't want communism; they want the impossible. And their leaders just lead them to the slaughter.

What's amazing to me is recently it's become apparent some truly still believe in communism. I had assumed it was too stupid, but nope. I keep overestimating political followers.

    2. "Distributism" can at times sound like communism to people, but my interpretation is it's essentially an attempt at *preventing* socialism, which it defines as slavery. Welfare is supposed to be banned, for example.

Lately I've realised some moderns calling themselves "distributists" are little different from Marxists.

So, Marxists and similar leftists just go in and redefine seemingly every movement... They make saving whales or saving, ah, Celtic heritage, whatever movement they turn left-wing!

They just overtake every energetic movement.

I'm very much a nationalist and a traditionalist: i desire a polity that endures for 10000 years and is ready to fight, though doesn't seek war, etc. So, I'm very right-wing.

I define distributism as in part this movement to preserve old SC houses that preserve SC identity and history. And then you have "left-wing" people who want open borders and welfare as "distributist". It's amazing to me.

So, basically it's just been made by some into Marxism by another name... The important parts are socialist.

And you find the same trend in the libertarian party. Everything gets overtaken.

      Good points as usual.:)

    4. I was listening to NPR a few days ago, and that SC historian was on. He was talking about house preservation.

It was the most wonderful radio show. His guest sought to preserve houses with stories and those key to a community's identity and past. So, he did not only seek to preserve the fancy urban mansions.

      The show was this Friday.
