Hi Brock, is that sage in the last picture? I see lots of it out around Merry Hill.
Good question as I've never seen this around here. The picture was taken off my back porch and I'll try to find out. In other news I'm now down to 4 Pees as a black snake got one but I got the black snake. :):(
I was just told that it is and they make perfume from it. Thanks.
One of my hens had five baby chicks. I kept them penned in fora while d/t their being so vulnerable. It's a shame to kill the black snake but he would be back.Confederate flag dispute in Orange Cnty. The screw getstighter and tighter. http://www.heraldsun.com/news/local/counties/orange-county/article211165834.htmlThe hen who had the chicks was the only one who was interestedin hatching her eggs. She was excellent mother as I watchedher train them on the trial and tribulations of life, likeattacking a mole or a snake. I haven't seen any copperheadssince having my chickens.
Thanks. https://freenorthcarolina.blogspot.com/2018/05/nc-want-to-fly-flag-in-orange-county.htmlI kept them penned in for a while d/t their being so vulnerable. I assume there was no way a snake could have gotten in, correct?=====================I'm cutting the grass all around the barn where they stay most of the time. I was told to not do this as it would be a place for them to hide which in retrospect was incorrect. If the grass had been cut the mother would probably have seen the snake coming but with tall grass it would have been able to get close enough. Pisses me off anyway. :)Copperheads? Where do you live?
No, no snake came after them but my chickens are free rangeso they are all over the place and I have a rooster which isfearless. When my brother would come over, the rooster wouldstalk and attack him relentlessly - male identification, hencea threat. My hen would get very stressed if anything approached her chicks, even other hens so it was best andshe was more relaxed. Live in Madison Cnty.
Madison CntyAbout 5 hours from here. Do you ever go to the beach?
Also wanted to say sorry for the loss of the little pees. Did you actually see the black snake get the little pee?Use to go to Ocracoke Island, always prior to Memorial Day. Those snakes lie in wait in the grass, as still as arock. Unless they move, you don't even know they are there. So the little pee probably walked right up to him.
Did you actually see the black snake get the little pee?No, but when the snake was spotted in the barn its stomach was full about the same time as the disappearance.=============Ocracoke IslandLove the town but prefer the beach at Emerald Isle.=================So the little pee probably walked right up to him.No, at this age they never leave their mother's side.
