Russia deploys 25 WARSHIPS to Med amid fears of US attack on Syria

Russia’s defence ministry announced the deployment of the vessels – along with at least 30 warplanes including long range bombers – amid rising tensions with the US.

Moscow has accused the US of planning to attack Syria, alleging a chemical attack will be staged in bid to bring them into the war against dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Vladimir Putin’s latest announcement comes following the arrival of ten Russian warships and two submarines in the region – which was already the largest Russian deployment of its kind since the start of the Syrian Civil War.

  1. There has to be another reason for this deployment. The last time their fleet was in Syria they pulled a disappearing act so fast even the French were astounded on how fast they ran.

    1. Don't know here but I can't see Putin letting another false flag occur unanswered.

  2. Why the heck do we, the US, care about Syria? Is there any real interest to the American people security or otherwise, or has everything just been about what those in the .Gov wanted for it?

No but Russia certainly has interest.

  3. I remind people of the Russian nuclear armed submarine fleet deployment into the eastern Atlantic ocean when Russia annexed Crimea and invaded Ukraine. what that was for was to cow Nato members in EU into accepting what happened. this is the way of Putin. Power projection really does work when faced with people already distracted by their own internal disruptions.
the US is coming up on an divisive election cycle so thats our distraction.
Israel is having internal issues and the Turks are being dicks as we speak. So, now; what do you think the Russians want to accomplish with this deployment???

Insure no one comes to the aid of the militants.

    2. I'm unsure that would be their goal. the Russians are already in there. than again, we have the example of the Crimea and Ukraine to consider. their catspaw is in place in Syria. Russian "volunteers and militias" are doing their thing for assad already. PDJT isn't going to put in ground troops. Israel? don't know. together we may use airpower, but airpower never won a war. whats the status of ground forces in Iraq? can't get that info.
is that fleet in being in the Med just a distraction or is it a serious play on the lake for theater supremacy?

      Good points and maybe both.

  4. this is a realpolitik chess game. pawns drop like flies and you don't really care about pawns now do you? if you won't defend the pawns what will you do when your powerful pieces are in jeopardy? what do you think will happen if we or nato do not respond to this move? what is the true endgame? Isolate the Nato members one at a time and topple the whole thing? think back to 1937 eastern europe and the Germans technique of isolating the western powers one at a time by Hitler and then knocking then down one at a time. remember, they have Syria in their pocket right now. What is this fleet really for??
Putin and his boys are students of history and have had time to organize their thoughts while Nato has been distracted by the shineing blinking lights of "Peace in our time". Again.
Here is the secret no one wants to hear said out loud. Putin is a criminal just as Al Capone was a criminal. he is neither a statesman or a politician. He is wealthy because wealth is power. and power is his thing. Russians have historic levels of patience. Khrushchev once said "we will bury you", as I remember his speech in the UN, but he never set a time table. Putin is the Russian deep state out in the open. recognize him for what he is.

Certainly, but he is no threat to me or the country.
