Disability, USA

 Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla.

There is a Senate hearing scheduled tomorrow on a subject of some importance to millions of Americans, but with the government shutdown it's not clear that the Senate Committee on Government Affairs will be able to pay for a stenographer to record the event. The hearing involves the Federal Disability Insurance Program, which could become the first government benefits program to run out of money. When it began back in the 1950s it was envisioned as a small program to assist people who were unable to work because of illness or injury.

Today, it serves nearly 12 million people -- up 20 percent in the last six years -- and has a budget of $135 billion. That's more than the government spent last year on the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department, and the Labor Department combined. It's been called a "secret welfare system" with it's own "disability industrial complex," a system ravaged by waste and fraud. A lot of people want to know what's going on. Especially Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.

Issa: ‘There’s a reason to fear’ Obama agencies

Republican California Rep. Darrell Issa, the GOP’s top government watchdog, warns that we have entered a time to “love my country, fear my government.”

“Right now, there’s a reason to fear the IRS and other agencies, including the EPA, who are loaded with people who feel empowered to bend the rules against those they disagree with,” the California Republican explained.

Issa has been investigating the Internal Revenue Service since Lois Lerner’s May 2013 admission that the agency treated conservative groups differently, and his Sept. 17 committee report details the committee’s progress and findings to date.

New Air Force cargo planes fly straight into mothballs

 http://www.aviationnews.eu/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/imgp3250-ila-c-27j-m62221-italian-air-force.jpg

The Pentagon is sending $50 million cargo planes straight from the assembly line to mothballs because it has no use for them, yet it still hasn’t stopped ordering the aircraft, according to a report.

A dozen nearly new Italian-built C-27J Spartans have been shipped to an Air Force facility in Arizona dubbed “the boneyard,” and five more currently under construction are likely headed for the same fate, according to an investigation by the Dayton Daily News.  The Air Force has spent $567 million on 21 of the planes since 2007, according to purchasing officials at Dayton’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Of those, 16 have been delivered – with almost all sent directly to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, where some 4,400 aircraft and 13 aerospace vehicles, with a total value of more than $35 billion, sit unused.

Spite House: Amber Alerts Shut Off, Let's Move Still Up and Running

The official Amber Alert page is www.amberalert.gov.

The Amber Alert is a national program that alerts the public when a child has been abducted.  The Department of Justice broadcasts specific information about missing children so the public can be on the look out for the child and/or the abductor.

If you type www.amberalert.gov in your browser, you will find that the website redirects to an error message stating that the government shutdown has stopped the program. I am not linking it here because it redirects to an error message.

I was fortunate enough to attend Brock & Co.’s North Carolina Patriot Convention this past weekend.  The speakers were incredible (John Ainsworth – definitely check him out), I was able to meet up with a few friends, and made plenty of new ones.  Although a full write-up will appear in the November issue of III Magazine, I’d like to tackle some peripheral points for now.

Defensive pistol sight options

Via Oleg Volk

Easy to use -- in good light.

Defensive pistols don’t shoot explosive shells, so close doesn’t count. Precise hits on vitals of opponents are required for effect, so pistol sights have evolved in many different directions. It’s impossible to cover all of them in one article, but we’ll look at the most common examples.

The most obvious direction is represented by target pistols: black front and rear for maximum contrast. As such designs go, the Soviet TT33 was decent — the front sight blade was narrow enough to let light around it, and it was possible to get a good sight picture quickly.

Mike Lee: He and Ted Cruz faced ‘demeaning…all-out attack’ from GOP colleagues [AUDIO]

Senate Republicans furiously attacked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Utah Sen. Mike Lee behind closed doors and leaked details of an off-record meeting to the media to harm the two senators, according to Lee.

Lee divulged some of the details of a closed-door meeting on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show on Friday, since he said much of it had been leaked to the media by his own colleagues.

“[N]ormally, I don’t comment at all on closed-door meetings between Republican senators,” Lee said. “It’s a pretty strict rule we follow. But one exception I’ll make is circumstances like this, where contents of the meeting were leaked deliberately by several of my colleagues and leaked in a very one-sided way. I’m happy to tell you about it here.”

I have a few things on my mind and as as I have taken Liberty and Lead down, I have no outlet.

Brother, we are so very close to absolute chaos in the streets that I am finding it most fantastic the lack of understanding and preparing by the average person. I have some acquaintances who are very intelligent and Liberty minded, but who seem to completely disregard the data and warnings that we are on the very edge of societal and financial ruin.

When in conversation about the communist bastards who are taking what is left of the Republic and raping it, they still speak of revitalizing the Republican party and of political strategy to "take back the country". The very idea that there is any course left except violence to save the concept of Liberty comes from the puppet masters who are the architects of all which these "Fox-tards" hate. The entire "Left and Right" has been created to let the slaves believe that they have a voice, some "representation" in what happens in Washington.

The fact is, THERE IS NO REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT IN THIS CURRENTLY UNITED STATES.

We are fiddling while Rome burns. We are watching WWE in the capital. All of the posturing, all of the circus is a distraction while the real brokers of power do whatever the hell they want with our very lives. We labor a lifetime to try and achieve what exactly? We own nothing. Anything in our possession can be removed by force from us at any time. Property rights are no more. So, we labor for the pleasure of the men behind the curtain. We exist to provide them a means of our own enslavement.

We stand on the blade of a knife. Those of us fully awakened are sickened and numbed by where we find ourselves. What do we do?

I for one am of the opinion that it is time to hold the people who enslave us to account. It is time to pick the daisies.

My friend TL Davis once told me that "There is nothing left to do except shoot the bastards, but I am too much of a gentleman to put it in such simple terms". Indeed.

NC PATCON AAR One

How does one explain a thousand important moments and interactions, many of which involve the intimate building of trust, allies and friends, to an audience who was not able to attend?  Many of those moments were personal, between just two people, or a small group, the nature of which is not for general public consumption.  Other moments simply would hold little value in being described without the context surrounding the weekend.

Like the Idaho PatCon, this weekend at Brock's event in North Carolina is simply unable to be described in a single post.  I'll begin slow with a few observations.

First, Holly and I are grateful and thankful to Brock and his daughter Dixie for inviting us to stay in the guestroom of their wonderful and historic home.
