Springfield Armory XDS Single Stack .45ACP Micro

So far the biggest story I have seen at SHOT Show 2012 is the XDS from Springfield Armory. It is a single stack .45ACP that holds 5 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. The barrel is 3.3 inches, and the overall length is 6.3 inches. It is only one inch thick. Empty the XDS weighs 29 ounces, and it is a striker fired pistol in the tradition of the XD and XD(M), with a polymer frame and forged steel slide.

  2. It's fairly close in size to my .357 LCR, but weighs 12 ounces more, though has 6 instead of 5.

  3. I never have been a revolver man. How do you like it. I need to buy my wife a CCW pistol and she wants a 38.

I am up in the air with Charter, Taurus & Ruger

  4. I have 2 .45 Glocks, 21 (13+1) and 30 (10+1). I wasted money buying holsters in hopes I would carry one of them 100% of the time, but to no avail. This .357 is another story though, and I keep it in my right front pocket in a holster 100% of the time with two speed-loaders on my left side belt. You don't even notice it's there. The pluses are of course a revolver doesn't jam, if it misfires you simply pull the trigger again, and it cannot stovepipe, so in a self-defense occurrence, they are dependable. I do feel more confident with more shots though. I got their .38 before I found out they were going to come out with the .357, so when they did I sold the .38 and bought the .357. Needless to say it does kick and sting your hand and I use just about max loads, though I'm sure I wouldn't notice a thing if I had to use it in self defense. The .30 now stays in the car and the 21 beside my bed for backups. The LCR 38 weighs 13 ounces empty and the .357 17 ounces empty.
