Parents Outraged Over Hitler, George W. Bush Venn Diagram Assignment

 View image on Twitter

A D.C. schoolteacher will apologize after assigning students homework that prompted them to compare Adolf Hitler and former President George W. Bush using a Venn diagram.

A parent of one of the sixth-grade students told NBC Washington that the assignment presented the teacher's opinions as fact, which is unethical. Others said it was insensitive to the millions of Jews murdered by Nazis during the Holocaust.

"I think trying to compare Adolf Hitler to an America president is just not right," one parent told the Washington Times. "I didn’t agree with Mr. Bush or his policies, but that was over the line."

  1. Well she apologized so all is fine. She won't be disciplined; it's Chicago after all so we all know the teacher is most likely a (D) and completely safe. Her work is done - she's planted the seed of hate and disgust for a US president into, probably, very many, children's minds, by comparing him to a genocidal mass murderer. "Oops! sorry - bad judgement on my part *giggle*"

    1. She would have been banished from her community many years ago at the minimum.

  2. I don't see a problem with this. Being able to make comparisons is a useful skill.

It should be followed up with comparing Hitler to Obama and Obama to Bush.

The Hitler-Bush common ground would include: White, male, national leader.

The Hitler Obama common ground would include "rules by decree" and "used the government to punish political enemies".

  3. Did no student compare W favorably to Adolph? Do any DC students know what words mean? Shut the place down.
