Russia = God’s side. The West = Gomorrah.

In his Kremlin defense of Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Vladimir Putin, even before he began listing the battles where Russian blood had been shed on Crimean soil, spoke of an older deeper bond.

Crimea, said Putin, “is the location of ancient Khersones, where Prince Vladimir was baptized. His spiritual feat of adopting Orthodoxy predetermined the overall basis of the culture, civilization and human values that unite the peoples of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.”

Russia is a Christian country, Putin was saying.

This speech recalls last December’s address where the former KGB chief spoke of Russia as standing against a decadent West:
“Many Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values. Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan. This is the path to degradation.”
Heard any Western leader, say, Barack Obama, talk like that lately?

  1. Oh please... Firstly Pat Buchanan has been a thinly veiled anti-Semite for decades. Secondly Russian imperialists playing the "Christian card" is not unprecedented. The first thing Stalin did after the Germans invaded in June of 1941, well second after he changed his shorts, was to walk across Red Square to St. Basil's Cathedral and recruit the very church he had spent the better part of two decades trying to destroy, into his new defense of "Mother Russia" a term that the Soviets were loath to publicly use.

  2. He (Putin) might be right. I'm just trying to get over the 30 or 40 million people they (Russia) slaughtered along the way to their newly discovered God consciousness.

    1. Yes, they even beat Hitler at that and many were their own people.

    2. Nah, it's all good on the God consciousness front. Just ask the 70,000 Huguenots slaughtered in France over that very issue. Heck, Pope Gregory XIII designated 11 September 1572 as a joint commemoration of the Battle of Lepanto and the massacre of the Huguenots, so it's gotta be good. Yay!

Scroll down to "Reactions" to see how well the Pope partied when he heard the death toll - coins minted, frescos painted, and general joy all around.

What a coincidence the anniversary is tomorrow! Death to all infidels, apostates and heretics, however they may be defined...

Thanks and how well I know, as on my mother's side, some Pippens fled after the massacre.

    4. I'm surprised at how many folks around me had family touched by those terrible events.

  4. Western leaders? What Western leaders? We have no leaders, only wanna be dictators, con men and power hungry control freaks. Talkl about ironies; here the former KGB chief of the former socialist USSR is speaking the absolute truth and objective reality about the now decadent West and the anti-Christian FUSA.
"talk like that lately?" - not a chance. It is so uncool, unhip and very unPC. We are not allowed to talk like that, it would make other people feel uncomfortable and hurt their feelings. Barf!

    1. Tell that to the people of Ukraine.

Thanks, but the simple fact is Obama instigated the overthrow of a duly elected President which was obviously none of our business, so the Ukrainians have him to thank.......

    2. I'm not so sure he instigated it alone. What if Obama and Putin planned the whole thing? Remember that flexibility comment. They are both communists to the core and hate the West, especially the USA.

    3. Oh no, not alone, but in collusion with some of the European nations I have read; however if Putin was in on it, then they both should be in running for the best actor of the year award, after viewing their coldness towards each other the last time they were close together. :)

    4. No doubt there. Kind of reminds me of The Manchurian Candidate. Only they are true believers, not mind-controlled robots. The level of infiltration by the communists (leninists, marxists, trotskyists, socialists, etc) is so thorough, we're in serious trouble. I don't think most people in the US realize it. It's like the sleeper hasn't awakened and may not until it's too late.
