Sheila Jackson Lee wears flip-flops on the House floor

SPOTTED: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee sporting a pair of white flip-flops with her pearls while on the House floor on Monday.

While the Texas Democrat was all business on top — wearing a red suit jacket with a black and white scarf and pearl necklace — she was ready to hit the beach on the bottom, with her toe-baring shoes.

The House feed on C-SPAN did not capture the summer recess-worthy thongs.

  1. Congress critter Jackson Lee is the kind of bimbo that if you gave her a glass of water, with the directions on how to pour water out of a glass, printed on the bottom; she would still be able to find a way of screwing it up.

  2. Oh God I hope she didn't wear a "Thong" besides the flip flops. I know she is a snank of the first order and stupid to boot but there needs to be some decorum expected out of our exalted leaders...

  5. I laugh when I see nasty truck drivers at the truck stop wearing shower shoes and sweat pants. Working men DO NOT wear flip flops. The only time a working man should wear flip flops is if he is on vacation at the beach or at the swimming pool.

    I have spoken.

    2. Brother...I'd love to. I need some southern manners taught to me...as you well know...but I'm so friggin' broke I can barely keep the lights on and the bellies full around here. I can't swing a road trip right now.

      I know.

      I suck. :(

  6. Walter, if southern manners can be taught to this Michigan bred, Oregon raised, Idaho living redneck, they can be taught to you!

  7. Since she's from Texas, and been an embarrassment for all of us, let me share that she can't help herself. They had flip-flops in the cotton picking days, but generally went barefooted. She figured she made the right choice. Seeing that it was the floor of the United States House of Representatives in Washington D.C. and all.
