Gangs of New York The Draft Riots

  1. I'm so torn on that movie. For one, it pokes holes in the "morality play" narrative of the War Between The States in its own way. That's good; people can respond better to a movie than some thick, Southern nationalist book I offer them.

    That said, the character I most respect and agree with is Bill Cudding, and the Jacobins ranged from "obnoxious" to "museum quality damnyankee."

    Scorsese is truly one of the great American filmmakers, though, regardless of how I may view his body of work, or the individual parts thereof.
