The University of Tampa fired a visiting assistant professor who tweeted Sunday that Hurricane Harvey was "instant Karma" for Texas because of the state's support of Republicans.

In a statement on its Facebook page published Tuesday, the University of Tampa said Kenneth Storey, a visiting assistant professor of sociology, "has been relieved of his duties at UT."

"We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused," the university said. "…As Floridians, we are well aware of the destruction and suffering associated with tropical weather. Our thoughts and prayers are with all impacted by Hurricane Harvey."

  1. Oh, a little good news today, most of us would have been fired for less.
