That is why I like hockey, the fights make it interesting and it moves fast! ;-) Got hooked on it in Arizona, the U of A had a great team, most of them from Alaska. Spokane has a team, we go to a game every now and then but it's a three hour drive there and back, so not often. Miss Violet
Love it also. Started out as a child playing the manual games, then progressed to draining my friend's ancient swimming pool to near the bottom each fall which made a perfect rink when it froze. :)
I find that so interesting Brock, as I would have assumed (yes, I know the saying associated with that saying!) that hockey wouldn't have been something that was widely know in the South, because I thought the weather to be too warm there to facilitate the making of ice! Miss Violet PS- Off topic, but while researching an Irish line to show the grand daughters for St Pat's Day, I found,on the Hoke side, my gr. grandmother, Sarah Taylor Bennett's line going back into Ireland. The first of the Taylors coming to the US before 1775 (John Taylor, and he served in the Am. Rev) had a farm in the little valley by Rockbridge, VA and he is buried there. Wish I would have known that when I was back there! ;-) From what I can tell at this point the Taylors moved to Missouri after The Great Unpleasantness. I'm guessing their farm and living were destroyed.
Not that I have found yet. I'm fairly new on this line, but my dad told me he was told that we were related to President Taylor in a roundabout way, which could be true, there was a lot of marrying of 1st cousins back then. But I did find something really interesting, John Taylor, who was my 3rd gr. grandfather, married Sarah Vsabeth Ann Davis from Kentucky, I'm wondering if she is related to Jefferson Davis, whom I know was born in Kentucky. ;-) It's an interesting way to spend an afternoon. I enjoy history. Miss Violet
