"And look at those American girls…" (Well, they used to look like this)

Sad, sad sad.

VERBATIM

From a country now irretrievably faded into the past…

If you had told me as I sat out the summer of ’77 grounded due to my first DWI collar that the country would nearly forty years later look back to the Carter era fondly, I would have called you a crazy old man and told you to eff off.

And look at those American girls…

May God bless and keep you and yours in the coming storm.

And this bird you cannot change…

Lord knows, I can’t change…

  1. We need to add that tune to our collection of battle anthems. It still fires up the blood
in this old man, it's bound to have an effect on those on whom we must depend to carry on after us....... I hope. CH

  2. Not sure if one ought to call Free Bird a battle anthem, but it is anthem. I was a 22 yrs old, stationed in Germany, the summer of '77. What I miss too are the songs where the affections were about cherishing that special person rather than a desire to satisfy the sexual urge. What I feel is not old age, or an old man pining for what is now lost to him. It is still that sense of ongoing alienation, compounded by the sense of loss, for what those who are now 22 yrs old, who don't have the slightest clue of what has been stolen from them, the lies and BS that have been told to them. As for those who have done this evil, I want revenge. I will not forget nor forgive. I pray that TPTB get in full measure what they deserve and that when the Day of Wrath comes, it will make Sherman's March look like an ice cream social by comparison.
