Donald Trump: No more anchor babies

Donald Trump has been criticized repeatedly, including by other Republican presidential candidates, for lacking specific prescriptions and details to back up his many generalized policy declarations.

However, largely ignored is that Trump’s 2011 book, “Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again,” contains 10 chapters of proposals for enacting policy changes on a host of key issues, including a five-point plan on immigration reform.

In one striking clarion call, Trump used the book to demand an end to the interpretation of law that allows for so-called anchor babies, where the children of illegal-immigrant mothers who give birth on American soil automatically become U.S. citizens.

“Some four million anchor babies are now officially U.S. citizens,” Trump wrote in the publication. “This has to stop. The only other major country in the world that issues citizenship based on where one’s mother delivers her child is Canada. The rest of the world bases citizenship on who the kid’s parents are, which is of course the only sane standard.”

  1. I'm liking Trump more every time he speaks. Trump fears no one. Donald is absolutely right about the Dreamers, the 14th Amendment, and a the border. Mexico is our biggest trading partner but they need us more than we need them. Mexico must improve their behavior.

    1. Certainly beats the rest as far as who has a chance, though they say he's doomed and if he runs as third party, the Democrats will win easily, not that it makes much difference these days.

  2. I totally agree - being born in the U.S. should not gaurantee anyone automatic U.S. citizenship, especially if born to a non citizen. Only 30 countries in the world do this. JUS SOLI I believe is the legal term.

I like Trump too, though I doubt he is actually going to make an actual run. What I particularly like are issues that are normally swept under the rug by the media are brought up to debate. And I think the media is surprised that his support is that popular, I think the media thought they had our thoughts all lined up.

Trump doesn't back down either. Yes, his policies are pretty generalized, but so are the other canidates - no one has given specifics on any of their views. When Walker apologized for his 'All Lives Matter' comment instantly, I thought that was cowardice on his part. He could have made his case easily (Don't all lives matter ?), but he went on the defensive.

When you let the media guide you, in my book, you are history.

  3. I have not voted in a federal election since Jessie Helms but Trump might inspire to do so, if for no other reason than to stir up the professional politics crowd
