There’s a rocky controversy when it comes to school safety in Schuylkill County.

The superintendent of the Blue Mountain School District is in the spotlight after telling lawmakers in Harrisburg his students protect themselves against potential school shooters with rocks.

“Every classroom has been equipped with a five-gallon bucket of river stone. If an armed intruder attempts to gain entrance into any of our classrooms, they will face a classroom full students armed with rocks and they will be stoned,” said Dr. David Helsel.

  1. It's actually brilliant. I had the same idea after 9-11. Issue every air passenger a couple of rocks and an ax handle at boarding (or just leave them on the seat for the next passengers). No need for TSA. As soon as some as hole yells Allah akbar he gets hit in the head with 20 rocks. Then the front row moves in with the sticks.

But also, school shooting are so
Statistically unlikely that it is foolish to spend any money preventing them. Regular crimes in inner city schools however are routine and should have resources every day present.

  3. Yup, soon they'll figure out how to find a sharp rock and fasten it to a tree branch. Bingo a spear and the arms race goes into warp speed.
