Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is speaking on the Senate floor and says he plans to go on until he can no longer stand, in his fight to defund Obamacare.
It’s not exactly a filibuster, because he would be allowed to speak only until noon tomorrow, but the speech may go on for a long time.
His message is aimed at Republicans as well as Democrats.
“No more fake fights,” he said. “No more hiding your votes. We need to make D.C. listen.”
He is trying to stop establishment Republicans from pushing a plan that would allow them to make merely a symbolic vote against Obamacare, while allowing it to remain funded.
Cruz took to the Senate floor Tuesday afternoon to make a passionate plea to stop Obamacare.
He is taking turns speaking, and holding the Senate floor, with colleague Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, who has also been leading the fight to defund Obamacare.

They should have had all the people against the Health Plan to write statements and then read them and give examples. That will take a week.
ReplyDeleteEvidently it has to end at noon because of some rule.
Delete19 hours plus and he's still going strong. He's not allowed to sit down or prop on anything. about 2:30 this morning he talked at length about Atlas Shrugged and how that book tells about the times we now live in. The man's voice hasn't even quivered yet.
