Man With Disassembled Airsoft Gun Shot In Head By Police

According to statements from Department spokesman Capt. Rod Light, Yakima Police Officer Casey Gilette observed a “suspicious” vehicle parked outside a local 24-hour car wash while on a 3 a.m. routine patrol.

After reportedly surveying the situation for one hour, Gilette decided to approach the vehicle, occupied by 23-year-old Rocendo Arias.

“Approached on foot on the driver’s side, moved around the vehicle to the passenger side of the vehicle,” Light explained to the KNDU News.

Instead of knocking on Rocendo’s window to further investigate the situation, Light admits the officer swung the passenger side door open without informing the driver. After noticing the disassembled gun, Gilette fired four shots, striking Rocendo once in the head.

  1. Terrible, just terrible. And we all know what's going to happen. The killer will get a week or so of paid vacation ("Adminstrative Leave") and then his commanding officer will release a statement that "department policy was followed, blah blah, officer safety, blah, blah..." and the killer will be back on duty, no hard feelings.

  2. What the guy did was stupid, playing with any sort of gun, real or not at 3 am outside of anywhere is dumb, but since when can you be executed for being dumb ? These LOE are getting worse and worse.....

  3. Well, it's a good thing the cop shot the kid right away, cuz you know, he might have put that airsoft gun together in a few minutes and turned against someone. Who knows, a game of airsoft might have broken out. (snark function - OFF)

    1. It's past due, but one of these will occur and a family member will take retribution, mark my words.

    2. And then what will the "Patriot" community do? Will they give the family member standard public outrage, or will they come to his/her aid when bunkered and being burned to death? No offense to you Brock , but the only thing that will happen is the same thing that happened at Waco and to a lesser degree Ruby Ridge (at least a few showed up). A few will write about it and maybe wring hands, and maybe a few will knash teeth, but EVERYONE one of you will be just talking about "well, maybe this is not the kind of case that proves our point...so lets wait this out and see what happens." And God forbid the perp that took down a corrupt cop needs a place to stay the night or maybe some food while on the run...

    3. Agreed, it evidently has to get much worst unfortunately.

  4. That coward cop should be bubba's bitch for the remainder of his short life in a state prison. This is the type of stuff that must be stopped. Police should be vetted better before they get into the academies.

    1. More than once I've heard that the majority of new cops today are not going in for the community service, but to control others. The "Warrior Cop."
