    1. Thanks and for some reason this reminds me of shooting pool and listening to Leadbelly. :)

  3. That's Stevie's brother Jimmy playing rhythm guitar and the rest of the band is Double Trouble...Stevie's band...probably the tightest band ever.

I saw SRV and DT only once in concert, in Muncie, Indiana.

    Them boys could boogie!

  4. WOW! Brock, I love it when you post some good music first thing of the day. A cup of strong, black coffee and Free North Carolina, what a great eye opener!

    1. Thanks. I sill have an album from the early 60's with Hank Ballard doing the same song.

  7. Speaking of Hank Ballard, when I was a small boy the black family that share cropped our farm while daddy ran a service station to try and pay for it had a small
radio that they would sit on top of the main electric breaker box on the front porch
of the house. Something about sitting there on the breaker box near the power lines
allowed it to pick up some radio stations I never heard before or since. One of the songs I well remember hearing on their radio was Hank singing "Finger poppin time".

Now speaking of R&B stars that died too soon. Check out this tune from the great Billy Stewart. I saw him perform live in the "Cats Eye" club in Raleigh NC only a few weeks before he died in a car crash on I-95 near Fayetteville.

    1. Thanks and I didn't know he died down here. The good die young. For some reason this reminded me of James Brown.

  8. After reading your story on Namsouth about Brown, he is also one amazing man - makes the Soul shake both of them.

  10. you don't need to do it by the campfire - closer to the house, I was thinking .... so for those who want to talk by the campfire then you can still do that, too.

    1. Could put it on the back porch, but like I said, I'm not sure if I have anything there to play it. I'll ask Dixie.

  11. Oh, I see - you are talking about a player, and not electricity - that is a whole other kettle of fish, Ollie!

  12. I have a Dewalt boom box that has an auxiliary jack to plug in mP3 players/iPods and uses cordless drill batteries for juice when not plugged into an AC outlet.

    1. Hey, Susan, Zoomie just volunteered to come to the Fall PATCON and bring his Boom Box, so you can hear the Eagles! How kind of him and we all will be eagerly expecting him.......! :) I knew there must be kindness in his cold, Yankee heart........:) Wait a minute, it's a DVD, so that won't work. Oh well, his heart is still in the right place and we do still expect his presence!
