An Iraqi refugee faced charges of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State group, procuring citizenship unlawfully and making false statements, according to testimony at a bond hearing held on Wednesday in Houston, Texas.

Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan was being held indefinitely without bond after it was discovered he was learning to make transmitters that could detonate explosive devices and also wanted to detonate bombs at two Houston malls, according to federal testimony.
