Tijuana security plan unveiled; 1,800 soldiers and police to be deployed

National Defense Secretary Luis Cresencio Sandoval describes Tijuana's new security strategy this morning.

That makes me feel better, since I'm going there for a week.............:)

A large force of federal and state police and the military will be part of a new security strategy in Tijuana, Baja California, next week in response to a spike in the number of homicides.

A record 2,518 people were murdered in the border city last year, almost seven times the total in 2012.

President López Obrador this morning presented the rough draft of a security plan that will be implemented beginning Monday with the deployment of 1,800 military and police personnel. It was well received by local authorities.

    1. Yes I plan on going for a week starting next Tuesday if nothing changes. You can find places for under $20 but they are far inferior to what you can get in Vietnam so I got the one below which I like as it's only one block from the main drag so I can leave my car at the hotel and walk. I usually stop for a beer and a Taco, then walk a little further for another beer and Taco and go on from there. :) Come on out! $288 for the week so not bad considering it's not Vietnam unfortunately. :)

  2. Definitely affordable. Most of the rooms seem very affordable compared to here in the US. You have family out that way which is
comforting. Sounds like an amazing trip based on the environment
    of today.

    1. Yes and just two hours from here. I forgot, where do you live?

  3. Madison Cnty, NC. What do you mean "just two hours from here?"
Your not in North Carolina at this time? I knew you were going
to try to go to Vietnam but I guess it did not work out at this
    time.

    1. No, I went to the airport, checked in my baggage, went to security and got dizzy. Fortunately they were able to retrieve my bags. This happens every now and then now that I'm older and is evidently the result of blowing an eardrum when I used to scuba dive. If I lie down for two hours everything is fine and if I had already been on the plane it would have been fine but better to be safe than sorry. So now I'm planning for next November. (In Fallbrook, CA now) You can take Frontier air from Raleigh one way, non-stop now to San Diego and it is only $89 tomorrow. It changes daily. Like I said come on out!

  4. Yea, it pays to be cautious. Nothing like being stranded afar
with no trusting love ones. San Diego, the second largest city
    in California. Wow. The masses.
Thanks for the invite but best stay close to what I know in case
the Second Civil War breaks out.

    1. But we'll be in TJ, safe and sound! :) San Diego is only 30 minutes from the border, by the way and on the route from here to TJ.

  5. Antivert is what they use to give for dizzy spells. Had them
a couple of times while working the halls; stood still until
    it passed. No apparent reason.

    1. The VA gives a prescription drug which is 100% Mescaline, the same as you can buy over the counter....:)
