The Washington National Cathedral is debating whether to remove two stained glass windows that depict Confederate generals amid debate around the country about the removal of Confederate monuments.

NBC 4 reported that the cathedral is considering removing the pair of 8-by-4-foot stained glass windows, which were installed in the 1950s to memorialize Confederate Gens. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

The pieces were sponsored by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the church previously planned to decide on them next summer, but will reportedly make an announcement soon.

  1. Question: So how does the removal of any object that is related, or tied to the Confederacy make for any one who is a "racist" become a non-racist? I have yet to see any evidence to support the theory/believe that removing any item related to the Confederacy has ACTUALLY improved relations between the races, where side has more understanding, respect, tolerance, harmony, and brotherly affection for those of the opposite race. None what so ever. If there is ever to be peace, both sides have to want to live in peace and goodwill. It is impossible to have it, when one side does NOT want it. I do offer my hand in friendship, to any one who is willing to accept it. Your call. If you want a race war, then so be it.

I will proudly fly the Confederate battle flag NOT (and never will) as a symbol of hate towards any one who is different than me (AKA racism), but as a symbol of defiance towards all who seek to be a tyrant over me. "I am not a number. I am a free man". It is my statement to all the world that the ONLY man I will kneel before is Jesus, My Lord, Savior and Messiah. If a true Civil War comes to this nation it, the blame, cause and fault, will be on the evil people who refuse to let me live in peace. If I ever have to take up arms against a fellow citizen, it will be because they left me with no other option. War or Peace, your call.

    2. Then they need to be reminded that if they are living on welfare/EBT/or other government social services for their survival. If they have generations of children who have known only that. If they vote without question for the politician with the big letter D after the name; They are still living in a soft form of slavery (without the chains and "masta" whipping them). They also need to be reminded, there are many who need to keep the old wounds of the past, still fresh as if happened recently, lest the professional grievance pushers loose the job, money and status. What would the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, et. al. do, if they had to hold an honest job for a living. The Party of Evil (aka Democrats) do not racial harmony, since if there was they would be out of a job. They need an ongoing racial tense, for the votes to keep them in office. I would also like to remind them, you can not move forward if you continue to look into the rearview mirror. Being offended or what ever is a choice. They also need to keep in mind that every single one their, the other guys and my ancestors are all, without exception equally dead. They being dead are in no position to appreciate any thing one does on their behalf. My contribution for a more civil society is to use the address of sir or ma'am said a respectful tone of voice to my fellow American who just happens to be black (or any thing else for that matter). I would also like to point out that the social problems that plague blacks in America, especially those living major inner cities, are a direct result of the government programs, that destroyed the two parent black family, encouraged out of wedlock birth rates, drug and alcohol abuse, high abortion rates. As I see it, it is children growing up without the benefit of a real involved father (and not a "baby daddy") that is at the core of the problem. It is impossible to have a stable society where young males do not know how to act like a man and young females do not know how a that same young male should treat them.

"of their years of slavery" - of all the black Americans alive today not a single one of the was a cotton picking slave. Zero. Neither I, parents or any of my ancestors starting with the very first one, who stepped off THE Mayflower (as an indentured servant owned slaves. So those with the chip on their shoulders ought to get over themselves. Their ancestors were slaves, but they are not. Reality check here, black Americans still enjoy a standard of living that the majority of blacks living in Africa will NEVER have. Never. Blacks were not the only ones who got the shaft. There was a time when it was common to see this sign: Help wanted. Irish need not apply. Are there whites who are racist against blacks? Absolutely. However they are a very small minority of population and in the case of the skin heads, neo(wannabe)Nazis and the ever unpopular KKK are view as being the idiots, low class losers and thugs that they are. The rest of the white population do not have the time or the energy be racist as we are too busy working, and mining our own business for such nonsense.

Back to this flag issue again. Banning, bad idea. Here is my take. Even if some one flies any flag, and openly states he is flying it as an expression of hate towards those who are not like him or do not think like, I say, let him. Repugnant? Yes. Highly offensive? Yes. But, as the military adage goes; never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake. Once he makes his views known, he is now a known factor and he can not walk his views back. You now know how he thinks. He will have predicable patterns of behavior that you can use against him, by getting inside and ahead of his OODA loop. Do it well enough and he is totally screwed. Here sir, would you like to have some more rope?
      End of rant:

    3. This is no different from 'book burning'. Keeping statues and monuments encourages discussion of the history and reasons behind them - good or bad. It allows people to come to an informed opinion of the merits, or otherwise, of that particular event or series of events. Destroy them and you're basically telling people how they should think.
